Together with other members of the growing young Mexican community in our city we would like to celebrate “MEX Independence Day” which takes place September 15, 2018. We would love to share our cultural traditions on that special day with fellow Edmontonians.
We are young students & excited about starting an association in the future to collaborate with other communities/association to show that it doesn’t matter where we are in the world we are proud of our roots. This is a cultural and educational event, about Mexico offered to our fellow-citizens in Edmonton and metropolitan area.
Some people mistakenly believe that our independence is on 5 de Mayo – thus, we have decided to share more of our amazing country with other people and show that Mexico is a rich country full of tradition and culture on the correct date, September 15.
The event will begin at 6:00pm at 4990 92 Ave NW (Coral de Cuba) and the entry is free! There will be mexican handcrafts available for purchase, food, traditional dancers, singers, DJ, Mariachi and the most important thing! “El Grito!” What is “El Grito?” well, that’s how we celebrate the independence, come and experience this amazing celebration with all of us. The boxing match of Canelo Álvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin will be happening on that day too! and we will be offering it as well for free.
To contribute to other associations, the MEXIndependence event will be paired up with the PEIF Mentorship program, which is doing a campaign with the food bank. For every two cans of food you bring to the event to donate to the association we will give you a free beer!!
If you love the Mexican culture as much as we do, join us on September 15 and have a blast celebrating the independence day with us!
